Our first Beginner Hike of the second semester is at the Paps of Anu. Historically a deeply spiritual place for Irish pagans of old who wished to worship Mother Earth. It consists of two peaks (East and West) of a height of 690m and 694m respectively. We will first go up the West Pap, to which the path can be extremely boggy and wet, especially at this time of year. Afterwards, we will lose some elevation to get to the saddle between the Paps and up again to the East Pap. This path has a mixture of grassy and rocky terrain, and isn't too difficult to navigate. On our way down the East Pap, we will encounter first a grassy slope which will suddenly turn into a rocky one, before we get to a country road and back to our bus. The length of the hike is around 13km and the elevation gain is around 600m.
