The Reeks Ridge is undoubtedly our most epic hike of the semester! It is also our hardest, with around 1500m elevation gain across 20km. We'll be traversing Ireland's tallest mountain range, the MacGillycuddy Reeks, from West to East, taking in the summits of Caher, Carrauntoohil, Cnoc na Toinne, Cnoc an Chuillin, Maolán Buí, Cnoc na Péiste, Cruach Mhór, and Cnoc an Bhráca. This hike will include steep ascents and some exposed ridgewalks with steep drops on either side. There will also be some light scrambling involved (using your hands to get over or around rocks/boulders). You will need a good head for heights to undertake this hike. We recommend that you only apply if you've been comfortable on all previous hikes that you have attended (you must have attended at least 2, one of them being an Intermediate one).
As always, hiking boots with ankle support are mandatory.
